Portrait Of A Park - 2011

Every 2 weeks Reg writes an article for The Friends of Christchurch Park notice board. These 'jottings' are an up to date chronicle of what is happening to the wildlife of the park and its surroundings. The book contains a selection of these including a chapter on the Park's famous tawny owl "Mabel", the wildlife ponds, exotic mandarin ducks and an intriguing chapter on hornets!

Portrait Of An Owl - 2012.

The second book in the series is first and foremost about the Park’s resident tawny owl “Mabel”. Mabel is famous; her photograph has appeared in national newspapers and this book chronicles her life through the year. Mabel is on view, perched on the edge of a hole in an oak tree for much of the year. It looks at the laying of eggs, incubation of young and what happens to her and her family when the young are fledged. The book also deals with Reg’s experience of other British owls.

Portrait Of The Birds - 2015

The final book in the Portrait trilogy celebrates 50 years of birdlife in Ipswich's Christchurch Park. It brings together observations and insights from ornithologists Reg Snook and Philip Murphy and is beautifully illustrated throughout by Reg's artwork. Portrait of the Birds also paints a delightful picture of what can be seen in the park today - including its faithful inhabitant, Mabel the tawny owl - and even gives details of where exactly to look for the different species.

Both books are fully illustrated with colour plates and line drawings by Reg and can be obtained from the Reg Driver Visitors Centre in Christchurch Park, Ipswich. All proceeds go to the Friends of Christchurch Park for the upkeep of the Park. They can also be purchased through Amazon.com (click a picture to go there).
